I bought this after loving and then being disappointed with my Swivel Sweeper, which scratched up my hardwood floors and is put together cheaply. So second time around I went for something a little more expensive, hoping that it would be a better product and engineered to last. This vacuum seems to fit the bill in many ways.THE GOOD: It appears to be well made and durable, with the parts fitting perfectly together and nice details that show that there was serious time put into the development of it. I LOVE the fact that the head swivels around (not a 360 like the Swivel Sweeper, but it does move nicely). Emptying the debris is a total breeze, and it easily snaps in and out. The weight on it actually feels good -- like it's sturdy -- but it's not at all cumbersome or heavy. I use it often and have never run out of power, so it seems to have a good charge. It does a good job picking up along the edge of the wall. The built-in hand vacuum option is really nice for getting into corners, doing detail work along the walls, cleaning up the stairs, chairs, etc, and it has stronger suction, so you can use it to suck up bigger items the vacuum won't pick up. You just push the two release buttons on the sides and the hand unit pops off the front.THE BAD: I wish it would stand up on it's own. It was designed to stand up on the charging unit, which is great for charging, but I wish it could stand it up on its own without the unit. I wish the head was a little larger because I find that to do my entire upstairs with hardwood takes a while. Finally and MOST importantly, I wish it had better sucking power. It does a pretty decent job at picking up little crumbs, dirt, etc., but it generally cannot pick up larger objects like a Cheerio. Sometime it goes straight over the top of an object or pushes it around in front of it and sometimes it flings junk out behind it. It also sometimes has trouble getting little crumbs out of the grout. On my tile floor I have to go over it slowly and several times to get everything up.Overall I am happy with it. If the suction was greater I would be thrilled, but I suppose if you have reasonable expectations about the abilities of a cordless vacuum you'll like it too.** UPDATE: This vacuum also leaves marks on the hardwood floor. If you get this item be sure to clean the wheels on a VERY regular basis and also EXPECT some scratching to occur. If you roll the same direction as the grain it certainly helps and if you avoid lots of swiveling and curving around that also helps to minimize scratches (which slightly defeats the purpose of the swivel head -- oh well!).*** UPDATE: It's been 2 years, mind you, two years of serious use, and it has reached the end of it's life. The battery was clearly starting to lose power so I took it to a battery shop to see if the batteries could be replaced. They couldn't, so I started looking for its replacement. I have since replaced it with a Hoover LINX cordless stick vacuum and am SO pleased and actually wish I got the LINX sooner since it's sucking power is far, far superior.

This cordless stick vac is lightweight, compact, and has an appealing design and color! It has a convenient base station, and has a built-in hand vac. The filter is easy to clean and has not only an easy to empty canister, but also a "twang" feature that helps you rid the filter of dust without soiling your hands. Awesome! The stick vacuum cleans my 850 square foot condo (all hardwoods) in a single charge, with charge to spare for using the hand vac on upholstery. (I haven't had to use it on carpet or in larger settings, so can't speak about it's performance there). It's compact, perfect for apartment-dwellers or for use in designated smaller areas of a larger home like kitchen, foyer, pet areas, etc. And frankly, I think it's adorable and LOVE the orange color - - very cheery when you're doing mundane work like vacuuming :)People should have reasonable expectations of what a stick vac can do. A stick vac will never have the suction and power of a regular-sized vacuum, and you shouldn't expect it to! I keep a neat home, and vacuum once a week with my "regular" vacuum, a powerful, full-sized bagless upright with HEPA filtration that works great, but is kind of cumbersome and heavy to use everyday.I use the ErgoRapido just for daily use in between "real" vacuumings, to keep my place neat and tidy everyday, free of cat hair/litter, crumbs in the kitchen, dirt tracked in the foyer from shoes, etc. - - and it works AWESOME for this purpose. I wouldn't expect it to do the job of a corded, full-size vacuum - - but it's awesome for everyday use to clean up little messes and dusty areas here and there.I've owned other stick vacs in the past, and been disappointed with their performance (Dirt Devil "Vac-n-Mop" = TERRIBLE!). But this product so far is much better! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a maneuverable, easy-to-use and sleek vacuum for light-duty work or cleaning in between "regular" vacuuming.

It did work well for about 6 months. After 6 months battery would last less than 5 minutes. I also noticed that the motor seemed to be running at "low" speed.A year later decided to have a look inside of the unit as it was useless sitting in the cradle not working anymore / not getting a charge.I opened it up and found 3 of 8 batteries had burst.I decided to try to replace all of the 8 batteries with new one.It was a bit time consuming. I was able to solder on tabbed NICAD batteries and arrange them as the old ones.Well it worked! The vacumn is like new again. Motor sound very powerful, picks up everything, runs for a long time and charges up every time. The replacement 8 batteries were about $18.00 with shipping and well worth fixing.

Let me start by saying that this vacuum performs wonderfully. It does what it is supposed to do: vacuum hard floors and low pile (berber) type carpets and rugs. It is not intended to vacuum plush carpeting, so don't expect it to perform miracles. I have 2 long haired cats and 3 kids under the age of 4 and this keeps my kitchen floor and tables crumb-free. I literally use this thing about 10 times a day, and for cat "dustbunny hairballs" I don't even need to be over the hair - it just gets near it and sucks it up. I was amazed the first time I emptied the filter. I could not believe how much dust and hair it also picked up along with the crumbs. I literally felt like I was emptying my Dyson! The small head is great (you don't even have to pull out the chairs to get under the table) and it maneuvers great around corners and under the cabinets. It vacuums right up to the walls and I no longer have to sweep the cracks and corners out. My babies' booster seat has never been cleaner! Not only is the handheld part great, the unit is also light enough to pick the whole thing up and vacuum the table. That being said, I will state my "hates:1. This vacuum does not hold a charge2. It will NOT stand up on its ownI have about 2000 square feet of tile and hardwood flooring that I cannot vacuum on one charge if I try to do the tables and chairs as well. AND, if I need to stop and pick up a toy or something, I have to walk over to a counter to prop the thing up. More times than not the darn thing still falls over, dislodging the handheld vacuum and spilling crumbs on my floor. If those 2 things were fixed, I would give this vacuum 20 stars! I have had many rechargeables that don't even come close to this, even with its few annoyances.UPDATE:After 3 months of use, I finally called Electrolux to see if anything could be done about the battery not lasting long. She said all their stick vacs are intended for quick pick-ups and will only last 12-15 minutes in consecutive run time. She also said this model has a 9.6v battery, but that model #1012 is the same vac but has a 12v battery so it will last longer. It will not run a whole lot longer, but you can get a little longer vacuum time out of it. I inquired if I could switch batteries, but she said even though it's the same vacuum, they are not interchangeable. Oh, well, I still LOVE this vacuum and wouldn't trade it for anything. I also read another review that stated their vacuum stood up by itself - I asked her if there was a model that did that - she said "No" they all only stand up in the charger and are not intended to stand on their own, so I guess I will have to live with it tipping over and dumping the contents once in a while!!!

Having building a 3700 sq ft home. I found that I was sweeping my tile floors into little piles and then waiting..waiting..waiting for the ambition to get out the full size vacuum to eliminate the piles. The Electrolux stick vacuum came to the rescue and now it just takes a moment to access this cute little vacuum and finish the job. A quick once over in my cooking areas and my house maintains a clean feel.Crumbs, pet hair, and sand are no match for this little machine. I found that I now use it daily and the motor is quiet enough not to frighten my pets. I love the long handle of the stick vacuum, yet the hand-held part is easily accessible. I would highly recommend this to all my friends, as I am extremely pleased with the quality of this unit.

My Electrolux Ergorapido is sooo FANTASTIC.OK,Mine does stand up on its own as well as in the charging unit. It arrived with all the pieces- if you can't find the attachments they are subtly positioned in the charging unit. The vacuum arrived charged and I used it that night without charging it first. The handheld vacuum threw me a learning curve, LOL. I had trouble figuring out how to take the dust bowl from the unit. To save you the same embarrassment, when grasping both sides of the bowl (to press release buttons) pull UP.The 2 handheld attachments are effective detail tools. I used them to clean my air cleaner filter, edged my kitchen, cat hair off my coat, and other random things. It worked splendidly every time. After removing the dustbowl, and taking out the filter be sure to do it over the garbage can. You can rinse the filter under the tap and -- wait for it--- there is a doo-dad that allows you to pull the filter down to help remove larger clumps of hair/dust!! Wow!! I just LOVE that! The vacuum as a whole is so light-- it was such a pleasure to vacuum my rugs with it. My rugs are black, so I could easily see what was being picked up. I was satisfied with the suction strength. It has two speeds and the head pivots, which really adds to the fun. It is super classy and really fun to use. I used it vacuum some large area rugs and I was pleased with the amount of lint and cat hair it removed. I used it on my kitchen floor and it worked great. The orange color has a shade of copper in it, but the copper is not obvious on the vacuum--its more of a suggestion. It is not construction orange, it is a classier color. It's not at all a coral, but in my opinion, it would not clash harshly with the coral color group. It has all shiny silver accents or dark grey. There are only those 3 colors on the entire unit.I am delighted with my vacuum. I've had it a few days, but I have used it quite a bit, for about 10 minutes each time. I charged it overnight the first night, but not since then. I have no idea how long the charge will hold. I'm waiting for it the battery to completely empty before I charge it again, from zero so I can get a good idea of the battery life.I recommend this-- it's pretty, it's easy to use, and makes vacuuming so easier.

In lieu of a review, I've copied the note I sent to Electolux:I bought an ergorapido cordless vacuum (model EL 1014, Serial #101452763) at Costco a couple months ago. I love the design and the features. And the convenience. It has worked great. For about two months. Now, the battery power has died down to a miserable10 seconds, if I am lucky. After that, it couldn't suck enough to make a dust bunny tremble. Was this really designed to be a disposable vacuum? Because that is what it has become. So useless that it just sits in the closet, but so expensive that I can't bring my self to throw it into the trash. I'm sure the designers, who apparently won an award for this, would be thrilled to know that the penny-pinchers at Electrolux have taken all their hard work, in the form of a handsome, functional tool, and stuck a third-rate battery in it that makes the unit totally worthless within no more than 20 charge cycles. Clearly from the tone of this email, I am disappointed, and I don't expect any response - certainly not one that will satisfy me. And you can probably tell that I am motivated enough to share my disgust with this poor performance with others on product review sites, so that maybe, just maybe, you're company will stop producing a product that is destined for the landfill only weeks after it is pulled from it's protective packaging. For the sake of all the people that work for Electolux (except the accountant who decided to use the Chinese-made pathetic excuse for a battery), here is hoping that all your products aren't built to the same standards. Because if they are, you might as well start updating your resume. That includes, you, the person reading this email, who will undoubtedly choose to delete it rather than respond to me, or send it to your CEO, who really needs to understand the effects of profoundly poor production decisions. Of course, I know you, the initial reader of my rant, had nothing to do with this choice, so I hope you have a good day, regardless.

Really a disappointing product from such a prestigious manufacturer as Electrolux. The battery life is abysmally short for such an expensive unit, and I don't mean normal run-time (which was originally about 5 minutes continuous). I'm talking about the product life of the batteries over time. They started going weak at about three months and now at a year they won't even turn the motor more than a few RPM. They do not appear to be serviceable by the owner, so the only practical option is to toss the entire unit and look for a better product.

I LOVED loved LOVED this vacuum when I first bought it. It worked wonderfully, is light, and easy to use. I loved that it picked up the cat hair on our hardwood floors.HOWEVER....after about a year, as others have noted, the battery has gone kaput (spelling?). I then realized that the unit was not charging when I put it on the base, so I had to rig the base with padding so that it would actually charge when I put the unit on. I thought that fixed it but, oh was I wrong. Even though it still shows as charging (IE the blue light is on) the suction power is horrible and it barely pics up anything. So disappointing, especially since I loved it so much when I first bought it. Anyone know if they make any sort of replacement batteries for this thing?AWESOME UPDATE!!! : the model I have was apparently recalled in 2009 due to the battery issue. I called electrolux customer service today and they are sending me a brand new replacement vacuum!!! I am super excited because I have loved this stick vac. Sounds like they have fixed the battery issue in the newer models ( mine was from 2008).

This one will fool you: following several months of complete elation, you will ultimately be disappointed when the battery stops holding a charge. I imagine the reviewers who gave this high marks haven't owned it for more than a few months, and I totally understand their good reviews. For the first few months, the Electrolux ErgoRapido was everything I could have wanted: portable, great suction on hard floors, versatile (two speeds when used as a floor vac, plus removable hand vac), easy to clean, great design, no expensive bags or filters, etc. I was loving it as a tool to clean 600 sq ft of hard floors every couple of days. But after about 9 months, the battery started to go. The vacuum would run for 10 seconds at full power as you would expect, then you could hear the engine start to wind down. It becomes completely useless after about 60 seconds on high speed. You can see other users complaining about it not holding a charge after a while, so it's not just a fluke. Such a promising product; such a failure. Unless you love buying a new vacuum every 9-12 months (because replacement batteries are not available), avoid.
