The new Dirt Devil Extreme Quick Vac Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum has all the features of a full size vacuum, but with a lightweight and compact design. I wanted to write this review because there were somenegative reviews which almost caused me not to buy it, but Ibought it anyway. I decided to wait a few months (4),though, to make sure I really liked it.I do.The negative comments were: *********************1) short cord and owners manual says don't use an extensioncord.2) I have COPD, and somebody said emptying the canisterraised a huge cloud of dust.3) Others stated that the exhaust was on the front of themachine and would blow around the debris you were trying topick up, especially on hardwood floors. ***********************1) This sounded weird, so I got out my calculator. A 25 foot14 gauge extension cord added to the 19 foot cord on themachine gives you a 44 foot cord - 88 feet of copper tocomplete the circuit. This gives you - with the 7 amp motor- a voltage drop of 1.9 volts, or 1.6%. In other wordsnegligible. There is no reason not to use an extension cord.The only thing I can think of is maybe some time in thepast, a contractor hooked a powerful generator to the vacuumusing an 8 gauge extension cord and blew up the motor... soDirt Devil said 'No extension cords'. Ridiculous. The firstthing I did was buy an extension cord. It's even red andblack, so it looks like it belongs with the unit. I rollup all the cord and let it hang on the hook the picture showsthe hose hanging on, and let the hose hang lower. Works fine.2) No cloud of dust. When the canister starts filling up,I unhook it, walk it out into the garage where I keep thegarbage cans, unhook the clasp holding the canister closed,tap it a couple times inside the garbage can and I'm goodto go. Believe me, I would know if it was dusty. It isn't.3) Exhaust on the front. It's on the handle, people. Whenyou tilt the handle back in order to push the vacuum around,the exhaust blows up in the air, not forward. To test this,I crumbled up a handful of styrofoam packing peanuts andtossed it onto a tile floor. Styrofoam crumbs. A baby's sneezewould have blown them into the next room. I fired up thedirt devil and started to vacuum. not a speck was blown anywhere,and it sucked up every crumb in a couple of seconds.The day before the Dirt Devil arrived I had vacuumed withmy Sears vacuum. Pretty good vacuum, but weighs just a hairunder a million pounds. Anyway, I vacuumed again with theDirt Devil (new toy), not expecting to pick up much. Filledthe canister twice!Clean up is simple. It's so simple I actually wash thecanister and filter each time I use it. I don't really thinkyou need to, but the first time I used it, I went ahead anddid it, just to see what the process was like. Not knowingwhat I was doing, it took me almost 4 minutes. It's quickernow.Hah! Pretty long review, huh? I could have just said "Thisis a great product", and let it go at that, but I thoughtI should also tell you why.

My father bought me this vacuum for Christmas since my old hand me down one finally died. I opened the package and was worried that it wouldn't be very strong considering it's size... WOW. I have a cat and a dog and this thing picked up every single hair in the house. I was shocked to see how much dirt had been in my carpet all this time... and more shocked that this lightweight vac picked it all up. It's great for the stairs too because it's so light. I would recommend this to everyone.

This is the best vacuum--of any size--I have ever had for cleaning up pet hair.I have several cats and am always cleaning. Can't believe anything so smallcan do such a good job!

First let me tell you that I just sold my new dyson, I had it for a year and loved it but I am moving from a large 4 bedroom home next summer. I wanted something cheap and easy to use but will clean up after my 3 cats, who shed like a beast.Iread al the reviews and for under 50 bucks I would give it a try, it arrived on time and the box was very light opened the box and love the color red, it's my favorite, put the handle on and off we go, the vacuum is very good at picking up everything a bit loud but wow it got two weeks worth of cat hair and stuff off the floor in matter of minutes I was really impressed.You really have to try it to believe it...Take it from a dyson snob......Update: this vacuume is incredible and is light and easy, I will be keeping this for a very long time.Another update: used it first time yesterday in my driveway to clean my car, very light, fantastic product.I had a chance to get a dyson again using reward zone points, I passed it up.One more update.Has held together well, no problems with it at all it a lithe workhorse, no even going to consider another dyson, I love this vacuum .

Didn't think that this would be a very good vacuum but needed an upright for the small amount of carpeting I have in my new home...I bought it and vacuumed.....WOW!!! I couldn't believe how much crud it sucked up off my floors! I tell everyone about this little inexpensive vacuum and they have bought it with the same results. This is a 5 star winner for sure!

I am thankful I followed the reviews for this product and ordered it. I was looking for something manageable in size and weight to do large area rugs (I have hardwood floors throughout). We have six dogs and could create a seventh with the amount of hair that accumulates in a couple days. Virtually one pass and even imbedded pet hair was gone with this little dynamo. Very impressive for such a small/lighweight vacuum. The suction on this is every bit as strong as the Dyson I own, but find too heavy and clunky to cart around my house each day. The collection canister is a decent size; I accidently filled waaay beyond the "max line" but didn't notice the slightest difference in suction. The only negative (which is really more of an annoyance) is how loud the vacuum is. But, a trade off I will gladly make in light of the super performance of this machine. Thanks to those who take the time to review, it really helps us all.

Great suction for it's size. Be aware it is smaller than most vacs, the cord isn't very long, there's no extender wand for the stretch hose, and it is louder than a regular vac. But if you want a small, light-weight vac that does a good job on pet hair- then it's good. I had already vaccumed with my old one when my new dirt devil was delivered and it got up 3 inches of dirt in the cup!! So--yes the suction is very good for a 7.5 amp motor! Only time will tell how sturdy it proves to be.....

Bet machine on the market. Strong suction, gets in tight places, lightweight and easy to use. I would recommend to anyone wanting a small vacuum cleaner. Best part is there is no dust coming back out of it while running.

Seriously People!!! you paid $50.00 for a vacuum!!! What the hell do you expect??!?!?I picked this vacuum up because it got excellent reviews by consumer reports.We planned on buying a Dyson or Shark around Christmas....so this was just a cheap fix to hold us over.This thing is awesome!!!! Sure it's noisy, sure there isn't a light, sure the canister is small and you have to empty it more often, yea - you have to kick the front down to use it. Who cares - don't be a wuss!This thing I GUARANTEE will pick up soooo much more gunk than you expect it to!! It's VERY powerfull for what it is.Our carpets are pretty new (3 years) and our old vacuum that was 3 X the cost (wind tunnel something or other) - was doing a HORRIBLE job apparently (we didn't even know it - I'm so glad it blew up!). I wish I could post pictures of the dust this thing sucked out of our carpets. It was gross - but amazing!!! This thing digs into the carpet - and seriously pulls your arm forward. You can see the brush marks in the carpet!Our carpets are now fluffy and like new - my wife was amazed when she came home last night after I finished vacuuming the house. You can feel the difference just walking on them! LOL....Anyway - if you are looking for a cheap, but effective and manueverable vacuum that litteraly sucks every piece of dirt out of your carpets at a very good price (I paid $44 at target).....this is for you.If you are worried about having every bell and whistle - and knit-picking every little flaw....then this is not for you - spend an additional $200.00 for something that is twice the size, looks better - but performs worse.

This little devil has great suction power.....Love how the head is "flexible" and has low clearance.........Wish the cord was longer........Emptying the canister is a breeze..........So far, So good!
