I was sooooo excited when I bought this mop, thinking that it will make my floors so much cleaner and be safer for my kids and dog than chemical cleaners. I was extremely dissapointed. after mopping my vinyl kitchen floor (twice)very slowly and carefully, using the highest "scrub" setting, giving the steam plenty of time to do its job, I took a damp paper towel and wiped a small area of the floor to see how clean it was. paper towel came out BLACK! then I stepped back and looked at the floor I had just mopped and it was all streaky and cloudy looking. I looked in the manual and it said that this could be due to chemical build-up on the floor. so I then mopped floor with a regular mop and vinegar water(per the instructions in the manual). then I tried the steam mop again (twice)finally, the floor looked fairly clean, but upon performing the paper towel test, found that it really was not all that clean. I ordered this mop because I wanted one with variable steam settings so it would be safe to use on my wood laminate floors. after much additional research, I have learned that the shark steam mops don't heat the steam as hot as some of the others, therefore, they don't have nearly the cleaning power of some other brands (such as the eureka envirosteamer, or the Euroflex monster)I have now ordered the Euroflex monster Ez2, which also has variable steam settings, got almost all good reviews, and is about 1/2 the price of this one. It should be here tomorrow, and I'm hoping I have better luck with it. this one is going straight back to the store. I really thought this would be a great mop, because my shark vacuum is amazing, but it was actually just a huge dissapointment.

I personally love this mop! My husband bought it for me recently and I have nothing but good things to say about it. It not only cleans my floors wonderfully, but the handheld steamer has helped me clean so many hard to clean areas of my home. I have had no issues whatsoever with the handheld steamer not producing steam or spiting out water like many other reviews state. I had a nasty spill in my fridge that I couldn't get up. I had tried hot water, bleach, comet, you name it. Nothing worked. When I got this steamer, I simply held the handheld part over the spill and I literally watched it melt away. All I had to do was wipe it with a dry cloth. I have even been able to freshen up smelly mattresses with it. I would definitely recommend this!

Bought this product specifically to clean crevices with "High powered steam". After 15 min of holding the steam nozzle in the same spot, I realized I would be better off with a rag. I could hold my hand 3 inches away from the "steam". I didn't bother with the other attachments. That was enough of my time wasted.

I am not sure why others seem to have a problem with this tool. I love my Shark! You do need to have more than one pad for grungy areas but my gosh - what do these peoples houses look like? It is not a miracle worker - the shark is designed to do weekly house cleaning.I took mine out and started to use it on the kitchen floor. Then I used the hand held on the walls before bedroom furniture was being delivered. This thing rocks! It is not heavy to hold - or awkward - it does get very hot and the steam flow is constant.It makes cleaning blinds and walls a breeze. If your stove and house is not a pigpen then this tool is for you and saves so much time. If you haven't cleaned in months and expect this tool to do the job - you are in for disappointment. It is not a magician but it certainly does the job it is intended to do.For the streaks - it is steam HELLO! so, for heavy dirty areas - after you loosen the dirt on the floor - just take out your siffer and bongo! you are done and no streaks and your floor looks great! For those that are so negative - call a maid! It sounds as your house needs it!

Gave this product a test run and it did not work for me, liked the idea of two uses in one product. The handheld did not get hot enought to melt grease on my stove which led me to believe that the floor mop feature is not sanitazing my floor but only acts as a warm water floor mop without soap. In addition the handheld device is heavy and very uncomfortable to hold for any period of time, started to get hand cramps pulling the trigger when cleaning my stove. Very disappointed and will return this product. Rating one star because I had to!FYI Did a little science experiment after my original post. Held a candy thermometer on the nozzle where the "Steam" came out after three minutes the temperture stopped rising at ~145F hot enough to kill bacteria, but when I held the thermometer an inch from the nozzel the temperature dropped below 110F not hot enought to kill bacteria. I did not test the temp of the floor cleaning pads but I know from my previous test run the pad was barely warm to touch. I am worried the people will buy the product to sanitize their homes and will be deceived by the loud puffs of "steam" and think they are killing microbes.

Do not waste your time on this. If anyone leaves a positive review for this product, they are not being honest. I made my decision to return this product after only 20 minutes of use. The "steam" is not nearly hot enough nor is the pressure strong enough when used as a handheld to clean anything more than spilled water. It works ok in crevices and corners, but that's about it. I spent 15 of the 20 minutes cleaning a countertop. This product does excel in one area...and that's adding time to the cleaning process. I did not try the mop feature, as I was too disappointed in the handheld performance.

To make the floor really clean you have to have extra pads, or you are just pushing the dirt around. It works great if you do.

I bought this a few months ago and decided to finally write a review. Seeing the negative ones shocked me. First of all, try as you may, there is not a steamer out there that is perfect unless you're willing to pay 1500$+. My husband and I had the Shark steam and vac. That worked pretty well for almost two years until the product broke. We decided this time to only get the steamer. Finding this one on sale it was almost a no brainer. We've owned 4 different steamers and this is by far the best. It has three different steam settings that really get all spots up. Foot prints, cat prints, food, dirt, and many other things. The old one didn't do that. I'm not sure what the complaints are about the steam not being powerful. It really does get up a lot. Another plus is the steam is continuous. No more waiting 10 seconds for it to heat back up. Also, our floors are never left dirty when the steam is done. We always sweep before hand and the floors come out fine. And let me tell you, our floor have to be the most difficult to keep clean. We have chocolate brown hardwood floors and black marble. Once and a while it leaves our floor a bit streaky but every steamer will do that. I just take a swiffer pad and wipe off the streaks. Pretty simple for me to do and I'm 6 months pregnant. All the negative reviews are crazy. They won't find a better one. Keep trying though and waste your time.

I just bought this steam mop because I have a lot of floor to clean and I thought it would save time. I've got 3 kids and so the floor gets pretty messy. I cleaned my floors twice and both times they came out streaky and dull. They looked terrible. If I wiped the residue away with a paper towel then the floors looked great but I don't realloy have the time to steam mop and then hand buff my entire first floor. I threw it all back in the box and returned it the next morning. Back to the mop.

I'm also surprised by the negative reviews! I LOVE mine and have used it for several months now. It cleans everything and it's easy to change the attachments. (normally attachments just sit in my garage and collect dust!) I haven't had any problems with the steam not being strong enough. In fact, I used it today on my kitchen floor which was gross because I'd procrastinated in cleaning it. Granted, I had to hold the mop part over top of those areas for awhile, then go back and forth a couple of times, but everything came up and I didn't have to bend or scrub!The only negatives I've encountered is that the mop doesn't stand up on it's own so you have to prop it if you stop for some reason. Not really a big deal. And I do have to fill the tank up twice (my first floor is all linolium or hardwood) But I don't mind this because if the tank was bigger it would be too awkward to use the hand held part!This is by far my favorite piece of cleaning equipment, and I think it's worth every penny!
