The Oreck XL® Insight™ makes cleaning fast and easy. At about 9 pounds without the cord, this upright vacuum is easy to push and easy to carry. This two-speed vacuum offers 102 mph of airflow and a powerful, pile-lifting roller brush for incredible cleaning on virtually any floor surface. I love this vacuum. It is very lightweight, reaches under my furniture easily, and is self propelled! Also, I found this thing sucks up just about anything so be careful:). With my other vacuum I found myself running over the same piece of paper or dirt 10 times until I finally bent over to pick it up. With 3 kids and a dog I need something with more power. I prefer a vacuum with a bag because cleanup on a bagless is so messy. I bought mine from Sears for about the same price - much cheaper than a Dyson I was considering and I am well pleased.

If you're considering this vacuum - it's worth every penny! I reviewed and reviewed nearly hundreds of vacuums until I was dizzy, but still knowing in my heart I wanted an Oreck. This vacuum - hands down - is a champ. SUPER lightweight and it's power driven - so you barely even have to push it! Perfect for anyone with shoulder or back problems, or even the elderly. Excellent suction (but then ALL Orecks are champs) and a terrific buy on Amazon. You can easily buy replacement bags, belts, brushes and air fresh tabs on Amazon, too. If you're wondering if you should buy this vac - GO FOR IT!

I've been considering an Oreck vacuum for many years. Unfortunately the steep price has always turned me off. I also wanted a Dyson, but thankfully I was able to try out my mother's Dyson Animal for an extended period of time and was NOT impressed. I had to run over the same spot two or three times to get everything, which is just unacceptable considering how expensive they are.I've been using a Hoover for the past couple years and, while it does a good job, it's HUGE. It's incredibly loud and it's just overall, a gigantic vacuum cleaner. I finally decided to take the plunge and buy an Oreck. They've been around forever, and seem to be the vacuum of choice for many home cleaning services (I know every service I've ever used has one). I searched a bunch of different Oreck's, and even though this one only had 3 reviews, I decided to go for it.Love. I absolutely LOVE this vacuum. I can't believe how well this light little vacuum works! The sucking power is amazing! And the greatest thing (at least for my type of house) is how seamlessly it goes from carpet to hardwood/tile! Being military we move every two years, so I live in all types of different houses. The one we're in now is half carpet half tile. Other vacuums tend to just push dirt and debris around the floor, but not the this guy! I just switch from high power (used on the carpets) to low power for the tile, and it picks up EVERYTHING! In fact, this vacuum is so powerful that I noticed dirt on the floor next to the vacuum head vibrating and moving towards the vacuum!I absolutely recommend this. It's easy to use right out of the box (just snap the top portion of the handle into place) and requires little maintenance. And what little maintenance IS required is simple to do. It's a very lightweight, sleek vacuum that has amazing sucking power. The only thing this vacuum doesn't have is any attachments. This was not at all a factor for me. I rarely used the attachments on my Hoover, but if I find I need them in the future, I'm still going to keep that vacuum around. I'll just pull it out whenever I need a hose. I can't believe I waited so long to buy one of these. If you're thinking about it, definitely go for it. You will NOT be disappointed!

This is a very powerful vacuum and cleans our short carpet and tile floors wonderfully. It also does a good job cleaning our thicker carpet in the living room except its suction is so great that my wife can hardly push the vacuum across the floor. There is no height adjustment which would have solved the problem. It is even a workout for me who is a 6 foot tall, 180 pound man.Also it didn't come with any attachments or for that matter any opening for attachments to be added to the sweeper. I think for the cost those should be standard.Overall, very powerful almost too powerful sweeper that works great on short carpet and tile floor, just not great for high pile carpet.

Had a Oreck XL Hypo-Allergenic model for 9 years until it just fell apart (I'm rough on vacuums). I knew I wanted another Oreck, but was a little leery to order online. I'm glad I did. I'm very happy with this model. It's very light weight and propels itself forward on my carpets (shorter pile). Not hard to push at all. I was afraid it might not have as much suction as my old model - but I was wrong. The pile on my carpets look better and the suction is amazing. Works good on wood floors and linoleum too. The bag is a more durable fabric than the old XL outer shell bags, but still pushes under my bed. Watch out sweeping over throw rugs - it will eat them up. Ran it quickly over a plush bathroom rug and won't do that again! Works fine over short pile throw rugs - just watch near the edges. This thing really has suction! I'm actually enjoying vacuuming again! I would recommend it.

After struggling with vacuums from Target (for like $150), I am in heaven with my new, best domestic friend. This thing is so light and it simply propels itself. Stairs are now a breeze and before they almost broke my back if I thought I was going to lift my previous vacuum with one hand. I can't believe I am writing all of this about a vacuum (of all things), but I would be remiss if I didn't. You will not be sorry if you purchase this product.

Having owned an Oreck for 12 years, I was expecting quality. But I was surprised at the improvements in this already outstanding product. The 2 speeds definitely was an improvement over the old single speed. The pick-up ability , including edge cleaning, is impressive. I was even more surprised at the more than reasonable price I paid. I love my vacuum cleaner.
