Length:: 5:19 MinsThis video review demonstrates the features, noise level, suction, and other aspects of the LG Luv200, a bagless vacuum cleaner obviously designed to go head-to-head with Dyson machines. Here, you'll see the Luv200 work on multiple surfaces. The only thing is lacks is a self-propelling agitator for easier movement. Unfortunately, due to the file size limitation, I had to cut a couple minutes out of my original video, so if you have a question about something that I didn't cover, just ask. UPDATE: A leading consumer magazine has rated this in its 2/2011, and the Luv200 is one of the recommended purchases in the bagless category.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Whoever designed this vacuum must have spent a lot of time vacuuming, because it fixes all those annoying little details. Retractable cord? Check. Quick and easy access to tools? Check. Simple to switch between carpet and hard floors? Check. Multiple levels for the roller brush, also easy to switch between? Check. What really impressed me, though, was the little things you never knew you wanted. While setting it up, I said to myself, "Oh, that's clever!" more than once. The hose connects to the body with a magnet. The crevice tool and upholstery brush are actually one tool--the brush slides down over the crevice for use. The extension part of the tube is, well, I can't really explain it, but it's cool and easy to use! And I have no idea how it does it, but it doesn't get the fringe on my rug all tangled up in the sweeper bar, so I don't have to switch to the hard floor to do the edges. Again, it's a little thing, but it makes a difference. As for how it sweeps, well, I've been a Dyson devotee for 8 years now. My carpet looked visibly better after using the Kompressor, and the LG Kompressor puts the Dyson to shame on wood floors. The Dyson always left a bit of grit behind, but the Kompressor left the floor feeling cleaner to my bare feet. I have two cats--one long hair and one who sheds a lot, and the turbine attachment made short work of their beds. The only drawback is it's a brute. Very heavy (the LG website says it's 22 pounds), and my arm was actually a bit tired after vacuuming my small apartment. But it is easy to maneuver despite the weight, and frankly, I could use the exercise. Given that that LG is considerably cheaper than the cheapest Dyson and works better, well, I'm now a convert.Edited to add: The more I use this vacuum, the more I like it. Anyone who's ever gotten within 10 yards of glitter knows that that stuff gets everywhere and stays there. I did a project with glitter recently. Much to my amazement, this vacuum sucked up the glitter on my carpet and wood floor with no problems, on the first pass.

I love LG products, so I cannot believe I am giving this vacuum a negative review. I have a mixture of hardwood floors and carpet. I had an old old Eureka vacuum, but I was having to replace the belts once a year, and that got expensive, so I decided to give LG a shot. I hate to say it, but I'm not happy with it at all. The suction when running this (without the agitator) over my hardwood floors and (with the agitator) over my carpets is awful. I would go over hair, dirt, etc. three times and still, it would fail to pick everything up. I realized pretty quickly that it wasn't sucking like it should when I went over my carpet since it left none of the usual carpet lines. Also, it didn't get anywhere near the edges, and it weighs a ton! If I wanted this much weight, I would've bought a Kirby--I know that would've done the job. Overall, a disappointment from LG.

We recently bought the LG Kompressor vacuum cleaner (the LuV200R model). The main selling point for my wife was the retractable cord and that it seemed to have stronger suction than other vacuum cleaners we tested. I liked that it was noticeably quieter than the other vacuum we were considering.I like the large canister, which opens downward to make disposing of the dirt easier. An interesting feature of this vacuum is the "Kompressor" system that uses a kind of wide wiper blade in the collection canister to pack the dirt tightly. This makes it less messy when disposing of the dirt, and minimizes the number of times that the canister needs to be emptied. With two cats (one a long-hair), and a Golden Retriever, plus three kids, this is an attractive feature because there's a lot of dirt, dust and pet hair that needs to be vacuumed in our house! There are two filters (including a HEPA), and they're both washable. The filters work well and there seems to be minimal to no dust being expelled into the air (which was a problem with our last vacuum). The vacuum isn't light weight, but it's not unusually heavy. The handle attaches with just a small screw and some parts of it don't look very sturdy. In fact, in the store where we bought this vacuum cleaner, the display model had part of the plastic broken where the Pet Hair Turbo tool sits. I expected the handle section to be a little sturdier with a vacuum cleaner in this price range.LG Electronics is South Korea's second-largest electronics maker by revenue, and the world's third-largest household appliance maker after the U.S.'s Whirlpool and Sweden's Electrolux.

Yes, it has been quite an odyssey because somedog (Dexter!!) chewed the cord on my Bissel. From reading and viewing the various reports here on Amazon as well as various other websites and numerous excursions to Lowes, Home Depot, Wallyworld, Sears, and BestBuy, I have been researching vacuums for awhile. I've bought and returned two Dysons, two Hovers, an Electrolux, a Eureaka, a Bissel or two, an LG (the blue one, which I talk about below), and some other brand - I think it was a Shark. And I'm here to tell you that this one is, by far, the best I've experienced. Before I move on to the pros, cons, and conclusion, if you're trying to decide between this one and the one-higher model (it's the blue one - LuV300R, I think), I recommend this one for three reasons:1. This one has the auto cord rewind, which, for me, makes the difference between procrastination and productivity.2. Because the wand on the blue one also serves as the vac's handle, it has the power and selector buttons on it, which is nice when using an accessory away from the vac to turn it off, but, for me, totally unnecessary. It also has the "pet brush" attachment on it so that when you pull out the wand, the attachment comes with it. Nice, but again, for me, completely unnecessary.3. Because the wand on the blue one also serves as the vac's handle, it does make using the accessories a little more comfortable but nowhere near enough to make a significant difference.Otherwise, there's absolutely no difference between the two models, imho. Okay, so on to the pros and cons....{PROS}= Looks cool!= Self-rewinding cord - more coolness= High - no, make that *superior* - quality, all around.= Relatively quiet= Incredible vac power. I have two dogs (Husky and Malamute) who shed in *one week* enough for four or even five "normal" dogs, and this outperforms my old Bissel.= The little "pet vac" attachment runs with incredible power, unlike most of the others I've tried.= The attachments are all smartly conceived and executed - on-board and completely usable.= The wand is ingenious: it's telescopic, but, it doesn't collapse during use.= The canister empties *completely* (unlike most other models) and effortlessly (also unlike most other models).= The canister is huge.= The "Kompressor" inside the canister really does work; it's not just a gimmick. What it does is amazing: as you vacuum, it travels back-and-forth (think a singular windshield wiper), compressing the refuse into a tight, compact little package of nastiness. When using *any* other vacuum, I'd have to empty its canister at least twice during my routine, but because of the Kompressor technology, I could literally vacuum for days without having to empty it (yeah, I know: yuck! But I'm just sayin...).= Removing and replacing the canister is truly effortless.= It comes with an extra filter - Thanks, LG!= One screw, and it's fully assembled.= Its height is adjusted with a pedal (opposite the release pedal), so there's no bending to turn a dial and interrupt your zen.= All controls (power and beater-brush) are located on the handle, which means that you can go from carpet to floor with the push of a button (to shut off the beater-brush - something that women in the video review did but I didn't know was important and had been vacuuming my floors with the beater-brush activated - gasp!) and a step (or two) on the height-adjustment pedal.= The wand's hose stretches really far and the vac doesn't tip. I vacuumed my stairs and the vac didn't come tumbling down - unlike that idiot on the wall with the two names that rhyme. What a dufus; the only walls I sit on are those I can easily jump off of.= The wand's hose is some kind of a composite of resins and magnetic powder so that it doesn't flop all over the place when not in use. Very cool. And, yes, the magnitude is strong enough so that the connections remain intact.= After my first vac, my partner said, "Wow, it smells so fresh in here!" So the filters really work well.{CONS}= Zip= Zero= Zilch= Nada= Squat= Naught= Ney= Nuttin'{IN CONCLUSION}So, if you're looking for a great vac at a great price, this is the one for you. All of the others (both more and less expensive) pale in comparison to the LG...and, if not all, I've tried most of them. Soldier on, domestic warrior....

I just got the LG LuV200R vacuum yesterday and cleaned my entire apartment with it - I had to force myself to stop when my guests came over. My previous vacuum was a Eureka brand that resembled a large dustbuster with a stick-handle and agitator. The LG is relatively quiet when running over wood floors and cleans the s**t out of my carpets! I cleaned a two bedroom apartment (walls, ceiling, corners, rugs, floors) and didn't empty the container until I was finished with the entire place!! The hose (with nifty attachments) reaches further than I've seen for most vacuums. Only issue I've encountered so far is when a clump of cotton was caught in the "dust separator" after being sucked in through the hose but the vacuum continued to operate as normal and the clump was easily removed. One other thing I noticed is that the cord (which is stored inside the vacuum) becomes hot when running the vacuum for an extended time but is resolved easily by pulling all the cord out(until the red tape shows). This is a great machine and worth the money. Let you know how I feel after a couple of years of use.

Ok, I just bought this 3 days ago, so keep that in mind. I'll update later with more info as time progresses. Our old vacuum didn't see to be keeping up with the mess so we were looking for a new vacuum. We were debating on the Kenmore Progressive vs the Dyson DC25 because of various reviews and also because of consumersearch online reviews. Then the kirby models. WE didn't want to spend 1000 every few years. My parents have owned 3 kirby's in 15 years. They love them but advised us not to bother. They told me I could buy a new cheaper vacuum every 3 years and still spend less. Anyway, we decided not to go with kirby (but they do rock for the time you have them). My wife landed randomly on this LG model when she was reviewing various places that were complaining of the Dyson's failure rate. And after finding the best price (best buy @ 249.00 at the time we searched, sale)we decided to go checkout the vacuum at BB. We liked the size, and the styling (big deal its a vacuum), but we liked how quiet the model was. It has a 4 year warranty, plus we got the BB warranty which should last us.We took it home, turned it on, was very easy to us. The automatic retracting cord is awesome, saves manual winding time. We vacuumed our living room carpet (two days after we used our older vacuum) and to our surprise it picked up about 5 inches of dust...?!?! The buttons are places in nice position on the handle. There is one to turn off the spinning brushes, and to enable it for when you want to move from carpeting to tile/smooth surface flooring (SWEET, no more sweeping). The hose is apparently metalic because there is a strong magnet that keeps it stuck to the side body, the tub extends out to allow you to reach about 4 feet above your head(I didn't measure). It also has some automatic drive, but not terribly strong which is fine for me.Overall it is a fun (as can be) vacuum. So far I like it and would recommend it for its price point and usability.

One of the dangers of reviewing a product early on is, well, it's early on. There's value in getting the word out immediately, rather than waiting for an extended period to continue testing, only to have the review be so late it's lost relevance.I've had the vacuum cleaner for two weeks and found it easy to put together. It's heavy and putting it together isn't a snap, but it nearly is.I immediately cranked this puppy over a plush rug that had just been vacuumed by a Eureka bag cleaner two days earlier and I immediately filled the canister, although, in fairness, I think some of what came up were actually the carpet fibers themselves. But, no question, the thing does its job, and we have two dogs who spend most of their time in that room.It has varying levels of height and I didn't find the settings to be dramatically different. I could feel the unit raise and lower, but I didn't notice more spinning or less with the brush. The carpet/floor button seemed only to result in marginal spinning. The cord retractor is quite cool. It's basically a one-button push until the cord rewinds. We've had a Dyson and other pre-Dyson machines. We also have bought Dyson wanna-be's, basically the $80 types at Walmart. This is much superior than those. It's discounted to $200 on Amazon right now and I think that's a very fair price. I don't know that I would buy it at $300.One thing, though, and this may seem minor and I didn't see any other reviews mention this, but the unit has a pretty foul odor. Think "new car smell" gone sour. I thought it was just because of the new plastic, but it's kept that odor. I had it sitting in our basement living area after vacuuming for a couple of days as I considered where to store it and had kind of forgotten about it, but noticed the stench well before I reached the final step into the basement. Like I said, a danger in reviewing things early, and I probably wouldn't avoid buying it because of the smell, but it definitely needs to live in a back closet, at least for now.

The LG Kompressor is a mixed bag.Positive:I currently own an Electrolux EL6988D. I feel it has about the same suction power as the LG, but it's simply not as effective at sucking up hair and other debris that clings to carpets. With the Electrolux, I find myself going over the same spot on the carpet multiple times. The LG seems to remove just about everything by the second pass.I particularly like how easy the dust tank can be removed from the vacuum and emptied. The vacuum is also effective at keeping things like coins and screws out of the tank, separating them into another compartment.Negative:Maybe I just have really bad luck, but the first time I used the LG the power button did not depress and became jammed in the on position. I had to use a screw driver to release it. The problem occurred again a two days later. This wasn't the only instance of shoddy construction. Also during one of the first usages of the vacuum, the pin that holds the wand and hose together fell out.The vacuum is quite heavy. Heavy in a way that I hope means it is well constructed, but so heavy that my 60 year-old mother would bang it against the steps if she tried carrying it up and down the stairs. My mother is by no means feeble, but because of her height, the height of the vacuum and its weight, I know she wouldn't be able to hold it far enough out in front of her so it wouldn't hit against the steps. Conclusion:Overall, I am satisfied with the performance of the LG Kompressor, but I think the weight will be an issue for some people, and I'm concerned about the power switch jamming twice in three days.

I purchased this LG vacuum cleaner at Home Depot today for $249. After quickly assembling it, I started vacuuming room-by-room, dumping the easy dust cup each time. There was over a cup of dust in the 6 x 8 area rug near the fireplace!Almost 1 1/2 cups in my bedroom -- including under the bed, and all the places my old vacuum wouldn't reach. Unbelievable! It's quiet and easy to handle. The hose is clear and durable. The wire in it clips on to a magnetic holder on the canister -- I've never seen that before! The attachments pop on and off easily. The bottom brush can be turned off, and when I'm using the hose attachments, the suction to the bottom also stops. The cord easily retracts without getting stuck. Everything about it is built for toughness and efficiency.I can't say enough positive stuff. What a great unit. I've had Hoovers, Bissels and an expensive Kenmore canister. This has them all beat -- hands down!I think I can finally invite my parents over for a white glove test!
