Manufacturer Description:

A significant benefit of the Miele S7 series is its innovative, patented SwivelNeck, which allows steering in all directions. The SwivelNeck is so maneuverable the S7 can even be laid flat to the floor which makes getting under beds and other low furnishings easier than ever before. Using the foot switch, the casing is disengaged from the floor head and the rear wheels disappear into the body of the vacuum enhancing overall maneuverability without exertion on your body. Movements are fluid, natural and almost effortless.

The other key to nimbleness is smooth running front caster wheels that rotate 360 and have non-marring rubber wheels that protect hard, smooth surfaces like tile and wood flooring. The S7 negotiates obstacles with incredible ease and reaches into inaccessible places... between tables, chairs and under chairs. Unlike other vacuum concepts, the Miele S7 provides this maximum agility without making you carry the weight. Thanks to superior engineering, when the vacuum is reclined, the majority of weight is carried by the base electro brush assembly making it easy to hold and remarkably easy to push.

All accessories fit the handle and the telescopic suction wand. And, because motor power can be regulated, delicate surfaces and fabrics such as curtains and lamp shades can easily be cleaned. Of course, the super-long power cord provides the ultimate convenience vacuuming without inconvenient interruptions to switch power outlets. The S7210 is equipped with a 39-foot long cord and together with its flexible suction hose and telescopic wand, offers a massive 54-foot operating radius that's an amazingly convenient cleaning reach!

I just purchased the Miele Twist and I know how these reviews are important to me, so I hope that I can help someone esle who is considering the Miele S7 series (any model).I researched the motors as I was told by the salesperson that the "Twist" has a cheaper motor than the Salsa, etc. This is not true. They all have the same motor - look at Miele's website. The $100 difference is the filter and headlight. You can purchase the better filter and put it in the Twist and have the same machine without the light.I debated on purchasing off of the web, so I could save money. In my research I found that Authorized Dealers DO NOT honor the warranty if purchased from the web!!! So buyer beware. Upon purchasing and giving it a test run, when I went to use the hose attachment it came out of the machine before I could even stretch it to full length, which is really NOT very far, if you like to vac high places - forget it. The hose attachment is much like a dryer vent.Bottom line:The Miele Twist is VERY easy to vac with and because it is on a petite side it can get to many little places and the swivel future is wonderful. It vacuums well, however, going over the same area with my old Riccar, I could hear it picking up debris that apparently the Miele missed. I think this machine is good, however, I think there are others that might be better for the price. I rate it a 3 star.

I wasted my money six months ago on a Hoover Tempo. It had been recommended by Consumer Reports which I am now starting to suspect of being highly biased towards certain brands... since that Hoover Tempo was a piece of junk. I used it 20 times and the thing broke and became completely un-usable. I didn't even want to bother with the warranty. I'm never going to consider Hoover for anything. I had fears before getting it due to some mixed feedback including some that were poor (how can this be a CR recommended product...). It was in-expensive so that made me try it out. Pure Garbage. I decided to check out Miele since my mother in-law had highly recommended it. I checked product reviews and they were great (aside from the high price tag). This product is actually designed to last 15 years. I bet it will be the last vaccum I"ll ever have to buy. This product is heavy, it's built solid. If you need to do a lot of cleaning in stairs and you are not a strong person this may not be so appropriate. But for bare floors to carpet, this is unbelievable. I am so glad I got this. It also doesn't take me much time to clean up. It sucks dirt so efficiently and quietly, it's amazing. Filters may be expensive but who cares, this makes your house smell nice, very clean and quickly. Get the cheaper blue model. Who cares about how it looks; it's in the closet most of the time. I'm not going to be posing for GQ while I vaccum. I give my highest ratings to this product.

Pure heavenly bliss! No assembly out of box - just plug in handle and go! Quiet motor! German made! Just like a BMW! There isn't anything they've missed on this vac! I have wall to wall carpet and 4 kids and just decided to give up my Kirby because it's too heavy for me (even with the self-drive transmission, it's still a burden to change heads and use the stick to vac). Hugely long awesome 39-foot cord (most other vacs you get lucky if it's barely 30 feet and you have to plug and unplug all over the place)!!! 54 foot total radius reach!!! Finger-tip on/off switch at fingertips, brush on/off button at fingertips (if you need to stop and move furniture you can just turn brush off and it is like running an air filtration unit), notch to keep cord up and out of way, super sweet construction (not like dyson which has stiff cheap plastic that cracks) this plastic is very high quality durable plastic and metal bottom. Has belt off mechanism so for any reason if the brush starts to eat something it shouldn't be because you ran over it, it will auto turn off so the belt will never break! all parts are on board as you go! no running to get anything. You can stop mid-vacuum and take quick draw 12 foot hose out, awesome aluminum construct stick attachment, and grab large hard to reach objects in your path and up high!!! no, the vac will NOT follow you around when you try to pull the hose farther like with the dyson!! this machine is made so it won't move around when you are pulling the hose out to clean! all the parts can detach so that you have a short wand to maneuver better too - dyson doesn't. it's sooooo strong too! you can vacuum anything with super huge power, or even choose a different setting which is not so 'eat em up strong' and vacuum curtains and upholstery without sucking them off the wall! True totally enclosed HEPA filter system. Bag doesn't need to be emptied nearly as much as dyson ball. awesome huge bag that truly keeps every particle in!! it totally flattens to the floor too and reaches far under anything you need - like your bed! swivel neck is awesome to get around stuff! you can twist and turn all you want! The word is that dyson ball breaks down a whole lot more (I'm willing to bet, though that most of those complaints are because of 'user-error') but Miele's reputation (pronounced like miela) will last 20 years or more. It's pure love for me as a busy busy mom with wall to wall carpet (yes even under kitchen table!!) and 1 and 2 year old babies in the mix! handle is definitely in the right spot to carry too (mid-waist of the unit), if you need to get it upstairs - the dyson is not. unlike the powerful canister machines, this upright is easy to store too! it all goes back together and needs a tiny square in your closet to store upright. (by the way, canister machines are for if you mostly have hard floors, and upright is if you have mostly carpets). This miele has a totally sealed 9 layer electrostatic charged HyClean filtering dustbag with this spring loaded thing that shuts when you take it off so it keeps every ounce of dust away from you, your face, your hands, and your garbage!!! I did not like how the bagless machines had you dump the dust out into the air again and static cling all over the inside of my garbage bag so that when I went to pull it out, it swirled around the air all over again. I also LOVE the castor wheels that make it so easy to get around! The 1,200-watt vortex motor is awesome.

Customer Rating Miele S7210 vs. Dyson Animal, 2011-03-13
This review is for: Bestsellers Miele S7210 Twist Upright for Sale
I have a Dyson Animal and it has been my primary vacuum for the past 6 years. About 2 years ago the Dyson began to be less effective in vacuuming our carpets, which are low pile. We dust & vacuum several times per week as we have 3 kids, two huskies and a long hair cat, so having a strong reliable vacuum is paramount. To give you an idea of how much we use our vacuums, we vacuum almost daily during shedding season on both hardwoods, area rugs, stairs & carpeting. We have about 1600sf of hardwoods with a variety of rugs. Our household is a true test for a vacuum.I clean the Dyson - all ports and points - regularly but figured maybe it needed a "tune-up" as the suction seemed almost nil. It was better upon a professional maintenance but not as great as it seemed to have once been. I "test drove" some new Dyson models and really liked the ball with the ability to get under cabinets but found the much shorter cord a hindrance and the smaller dust bin a pain to empty twice as much. I liked the Electrolux but it was bulky and I have stairs, so that wasn't a consideration.I have two neighbors who have sung the praises of Miele for years but I resisted due to the cost. I have a Miele dishwasher and it does an incomparable job, so I decided to research the Miele. I read a few negative items, but predominantly the reviews were strong. So I "test drove" the Miele Twist for a week. I was completely impressed with so many features I will never go back. Here are the items I think make it superior to Dyson:1. The bottom of the vac is metal, the base has a full rubber bumper and the beater bar has an indent making it easy to cut off any strings, hair or impediments.2. The dust bin does not need emptying - no fun with piles of dog hair. While a bit more costly, the bags really contain the dirt, dust and hair and reduces my cleaning time. Intially I loved the fact the Dyson had no bags to buy and an easy-to-empty canister, but after a while it was not just an easy chore. Emptying the canister also means cleaning the dust when you dump it, cleaning the rubber gaskets prior to reassembly to be sure suction is maintained, and being sure that all the dust gets emptied and is not stuck in the holes of the central perforated cone.3. The Miele vacuum has a short "nose" so it can reach under cabinets & furniture easily and it can lay flat. The Dyson cannot do this.4. The Miele has an amazing ability to turn & swivel and is VERY EASY to push.5. The Miele has a 35 foot long cord - can reach EVERYWHERE without unplugging!6. This Miele does not come with the HEPA filter like the models that are $300 more, but the supplied filter is a good one and can easily be replaced with the same $50 filter the other models come with.7. The beater brush can be turned off leaving only suction, which is great if you have a delicate surface to clean. So I splurged and kept the Miele. Having had this Miele for over month now, I can truly say that this Miele is a much better quality machine physically and performance wise. I will keep the Dyson as a back up - to use on another floor in the house. But this Miele is now used daily because of its ease of use & the clean path it leaves in its wake! I HIGHLY recommend this vacuum.

I took my beloved dyson DC07 in to my local repair shop for a new motor, and mentioned to him that I was headed to costco for a DC-28. An hour later I walked out of his shop with this Miele vacuum instead...along with a $450 bill to repair and rejuvenate my Dyson DC07. After an hour of vacuuming with the Miele, I called him and told him to trash the Dyson, and I'm coming back for a 2nd Miele (I'm spoiled, I like having a vacuum on each floor of my home). This is an incredible vacuum I think. The tools are easier to use than the old Dyson, the suction is greater, more options to vary suction level. I'm in love.

This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. I have had it now for almost month, and vacuum twice a month. We have a small dog and a mix of hardwood with rugs and newer carpet. The ability to define the pile height and turn the brush on/off is fantastic. The hose is easy to use and the unit has fantastic suction. I do recommend buying a set of bags with it too. We have newer carpet, so I replaced the first bag after only 4 uses. There are little things that make it fantastic - like the handle on the middle back of the unit that makes it easy to move up & down stairs. The twist swivels the head and this makes for easier vacuuming around table legs and other immovable items. Rugs have never looked better because of its power, and its easy to move between them and the floor b/c of the ability to turn off the brush. The attachments for the wand are easily store on the back of the unit. The suction power is fantastic. I ultimately chose this unit b/c I had read of the Dyson's breaking often and Consumer Reports had zero negative comments on this unit. It is heavy, however because that weight is in the base, you do not feel it while operating. It is also a quiet power, and it is very powerful.

I've owned my Twist now for about 9 months, and figured it was finally time to share my experiences with the rest of the world. I researched many vacuums before settling on this one based on professional reviews (Consumer Reports was one) and many user reviews like Amazon's. It's the least expensive of the upright Mieles, but still a significant cash investment in a vacuum cleaner so it's important to make a well-qualified decision. In my opinion, it's worth the money. Rather than reiterate what several other people have said in their own reviews, I'll try to add some of my own unique thoughts.First of all, we live in a split level condo where the only hardwood floor is in the kitchen. We had been using an old Hoover upright and occasionally an older canister vac to clean the place. We finally decided to get something new when our cleaning lady told us neither vacuum was really working well. After we bought it, I set out to vacuum the whole place myself. The main overall point I'd like to make is that this thing is engineered very well, all the way down to the details. The cord is made of a material that resists kinking and stays "slippery", so it doesn't want to cling to itself and will pull around corners without hanging up on anything. The cord is also long--VERY long. I can plug it into one outlet at the bottom of our stairs and reach every piece of carpeting in the entire place without having to change outlets. After only a month of use, we had to empty the bag which tells me just how much dirt was being left behind by our other vacuums. Once the bag was full, it was still picking up dirt without any problem, I just happened to check the bag one day on a whim and noticed it was not only full, but dirt had started to accumulate in the neck leading to the bag. And again, it was still picking up dirt without skipping a beat. That clearly demonstrated to me just how powerful this thing is.Speaking of power, I will honestly say this is the first vacuum I've owned or even used that I really need to pay attention to what I'm doing. As children, we all tend to fear the mighty vacuum cleaner thinking the thing is going to eat us. Well, as an adult this thing borderline scares me. Not because it's loud or mean-looking, but rather because it will eat anything in its path. I ran the Twist a little too close some loose shoelaces and proceeded to watch it instantly gobble up the laces and pull the shoe straight and immediately to the head of the vacuum. But again noting the top-notch engineering, the brush head immediately clicked off and the indicator light showing a jam lit up. I've since learned to watch out for anything loose in the vicinity, including the edges of throw rugs. In a nutshell, it's so powerful that you've gotta really pay attention to where you're vacuuming. Many reviewers have pointed out its excessive weight. I just weighed mine and it clocked in at 20.4 pounds. I'm not sure I understand the complaints though for a couple of reasons. First, checking the specs on several Dyson vacuums have them weighing in at 21-28 pounds and a cheap Hoover at 19. It's right in the same ballpark as other vacuums, so maybe it just feels heavy? I'm not sure, but either way the weight has never bothered me. And second, I'd much rather have some additional weight if I knew that weight was contributing to an overall better machine, which I truly believe this is. People often complain that "they just don't make them like they used to". That statement almost always applies to longevity and consistency. Cheaper, newer things don't last, and older things that were made of cast iron and steel are still going strong. When I turn this vacuum on, it takes a couple of seconds to "rev" up the dual motors, which screams to me that it's well made and ready to kick some serious a**.It has all the nice touches that make it a great machine: it lays flat for getting under furniture, the twist action is nice, the bags are made of a really high-quality near fabric material and not some cheap paper, the bags are easy to change, and they connect to the Twist with a well-designed mechanism. It's also important to point out that as you go up in the Miele line, you don't buy a stronger vacuum, just one with more features like a headlight, HEPA filter (which you can install on the Twist anyway), and so on. The core cleaning mechanism on all the Miele uprights is the same.In closing, I didn't plan on writing a review of my Twist. I've always been a connisour of well-engineered products, be it cars, stereo equipment, tools, and now vacuum cleaners. Nowadays many people take to the reviews just to complain about a product they were unhappy with in the hopes of warding other people off of a bad purchase, but in my case I was so impressed with the Twist that I felt it necessary to share my happiness. I hope others can relish it as much as I have.

For a vacuum it is very quiet.- The twist feature makes it very easy to maneuver- The cord, wand, and accessory tools are very well thought out. They also have a quality feel to them.- The bags are the best that I have ever seen. Unfortunately they cost 3 times as much as most other bags.Overall a great vacuum cleaner

Purchased the Miele Twist after much research and consumer review. Love the machine. Let me say that I am a vacuum fanatic and use my vacuum at least every other day, and I mean at least (I have 3 kids, 2 dogs, and a dirty backyard). Immediately the power of the vacuum was noted and even though it is a bit heavy on the pull-back, it is BECAUSE of the 2-motor design and so I will take power with weight any day. The carpet looks the best I have seen it in at least a couple of years (animal stains aside) and I think I am almost addicted to running it just to see the carpet plush, full and hear the dirt cyle through the hose (before the kids come home *wink* ).I worried about how it would handle my 15-staircase, but the hose extended to at least 12 stairs quite beautifully and it was not difficult to balance the vacuum while I cleaned the last upper three. Another thing I was curious about was the length of the cord, but again - I have been pleased to note that I can vacuum all of my downstairs from one convientently placed outlet. Speaking of downstairs, I adore how easy it is to shift from carpet to vinyl with just the flip of the switch and it does such a great job cleaning too. But, if you noted I gave it 4-stars vs 5 and you may be wondering why. Well, here are my quirks with the machine. While I love how long the cord is - I do not like how it can not seem to stay wound up on the machine, it falls off loop-by-loop as I move around the room. I plan to amend this annoyance by getting a velcro loop and making my own sort of contraption to keep it on the machine. I also find annoyance with a particular situation, that may be only related to me (and my own amazingly charged personality *wink*), but it will shock me if the machine gets too close to my leg while running it. I learned with research that the machine uses an electrobrush (see [...]) and this may be the cause of my experience. If I remember to keep it away and not pull it so close to my heart, as I want since I love it so, then it is fine. *smile*Now, on the principle of sandwiching, I must leave you with another loved aspect of this machine. I love the manuverability of the machine. It is like the Dyson ball, in effect, but the power and allergen control of a Miele. I can bring it low and it doesn't alter how it works, and I can easily move it between and around my furniture. All in all - I am in love. The cord doesn't stay on the machine very well and I get a small shock every now and then, but other than that - I adore the machine. For the price, it is a real bargain.
