Researched what Consumer Reports had on vacuums this year. Found out this vacuum was #1 or #2- I can't remember. Just bought the vacuum today. Did the living room and hallway until I couldn't hear the sand being picked up anymore. Peeked inside the bag to see how much debris my old vacuum missed last night. And there was probably a quarter cup of sand or dirt in the bottom along with dust and other grey colored fibers and whatnot in the bag. I am getting ready to steam clean the carpets and love that my steam cleaner wont have to pick up all that extra debris now.I see some people think it's too heavy.. it's not. I am 33 years old and don't exercise much and actually thought this thing felt self propelled, you have to be pretty frail or out of shape to not be able to push it around. My 3 year old son loves the color red and he was able to push it up and down the 30 foot hallway easily.It assembles easily out of the box. The cord does store neatly to my surprise, usually it seems the cord holders do not have adequate room to wrap the whole cord. The attachments are nice and neat and dont stick out and cant get bumped around while your vacuuming and fall off. I have not done the stairs yet or used the pet handimate but I have read good reviews on that and expect it to preform well- my other expectations were fullfilled.I was considering a Hoover Wind Tunnel T series Rewind but decided to stick with a bag, as I hate cleaning filter and opening cannisters- my old vacuum had that and I despised it.I motor is a great deal quieter and smoother sounding than my Old Dirt Devil, I am sure that was one of the criteria the Consumer reports used to rank it so high. I paid $249 for mine brand new at Sears. Regular price is $260 online and in the store.Thanks Consumer Reports!

After going through a eureka and a hoover in a year and a half I decided to purchase a "real" vacuum cleaner. I did a lot of research, and ended up purhcasing the Kenmore Intuition this morning. It was very simple to put together, and picks up so much more dirt than any other vacuum I've ever used. I glides across the carpet, is air tight with no dust escaping and in general is a great vacuum. I have a dog that sheds so a good vacuum is imperative. After vacuuming my house twice this morning it didn't miss a beat, no clogs! I purchased the 5 year service plan and look forward to a long life with my new vacuum.

I purchased this vacuum from Sears, because it had good reviews in Consumer Reports. It does have good suction, but that is the only good thing I have to say about it. It is very heavy and clunky. The attachment hose is too short, so the vacuum is constantly tipping over. I dread vacuuming now and am thinking of getting a different vacuum. I wouldn't recommend it if you plan to use attachments.

I really am not impressed with this vacuum. It had the highest rating in Consumers Reports, which is why I bought it. I find the vacuum to be way too heavy and I am a tall, strong woman. Also, the vacuum has a very stiff attachment hose which makes using the attachments awkward. It is also very tippy when using the attachment hose and I always worry it is going to fall over and dent furniture, etc. It does do a very good job picking up debris on carpet and flooring with strong suction. There are other vacuums not so awkward and heavy that would do a comparable job.

This is an awesome vacuum cleaner. It picks up sooooo much more dirt than my previous vacuum cleaner. I absolutely LOVE it! Although the other customer did not give it a good rating, I personally feel you should give it a try and decide for yourself.

Although the vacuum cleans the carpets well, it is extremely difficult to maneuver. It is heavy and cumbersome.I originally bought this when I lived in a large apartment that was completely carpeted so I was very pleased. I then moved to a small apartment where I realized how difficult it was to turn and clean the rooms. I now live in a hardwood 2 story house. I hate carrying the vacuum upstairs (and thus I rarely vacuum).I have owned this for about 2 years and I just started to notice the parts breaking. The part that you can move lower or higher to get closer to the floor no longer works and it is always getting caught on the floor which makes it difficult to push the vacuum.The "pet handi mate" is total crap as well. This was one of the major selling points for me but it does not even pick up one pet hair from my couch.In all, if you're looking for a vacuum that has great suction power, this would be acceptable. However, if you want a vacuum that is also easy to move and you can vacuum quickly, this is not it.

This is model Intuition 31100.I just received my Intuition that was a "lightly used demo model". I have a quick question before the product review.When my handle is in the locked upright position, there is 6" of slop or play in the handle.I can push the handle forward until it is perfectly upright, but when I let go of the handle it falls back 6", angled back far enough to upset the balance and make it feel slightly unstable, it wouldn't take much to make the whole vacuum fall over backward.Do all Intuitions have this slop in the locking mechanism, or is it just because mine has been heavily abused at the store?My 8-9yr old Bissell locks in the straight upright position and has no slop at all.REVIEW:Product....4 stars.....This has great suction.Definitely on the heavy side.Brush engagement switch on the handle is handy.No belt drive is great.Not too loud.1 major design flaw: the electric cord wraps around directly behind the hose. To get the hose out of it's normal storage position, you have to remove the whole cord. If you wrap the hose very, very loosely you can get the hose out from behind it, but it still takes a lot of wriggling.Seller....1 star....The seller described my unit as a "lightly used demo model." In my opinion it was an abused model.This unit has quite a few scrapes and scratches all over the unit. In quite a few areas the softer plastic/rubber areas (i.e. bumper, hand grip of handle) has rips or wear marks. The electric cord looks very used. This unit shows much more physical abuse than my 8-9yr old Bissell.There are tool marks on all the plastic spring clips as if a monkey were given the task of taking this apart and putting it back together.The handle (up near the power switch) had a piece rattling around inside it. I took the handle apart (which had obviously been taken apart before, looking at the pry marks) and there was a piece of plastic that had broken off of an area of the internal support bracing. My assumption is that when the handle was being put back together the first time, the two halves of the handle weren't lined up properly and the technician (the monkey) forced it together, breaking the piece off.When I first powered on the unit, there was no suction. The 'check bag' light was on, and the relief valve at the back of the unit was making a farting noise. I went through the manual to check for problems...the dust bag was new and installed properly...the filter had some hairs, fibers, debris, but not too bad. I cleaned the filter...went through the owner's manual process of finding and clearing clogs.Nothing fixed the problem. I figured it was either a mechanical breakage or there was a super clog somewhere.To go more in depth for checking clogs, I started taking the unit apart and running a wire through everything. Finally found a huge super clog of hair, fiber, wood pieces, and other debris in the hose. Cleared that and got huge suction-ability. No more 'check bag' light and no more farting. Great!!!So the seller sent me a unit that had no suction, had the 'check bag' light on, and the relief valve was farting.There is also the situation that is first mentioned, the handle in the locked upright position does not stay fully upright. I would bet that new units stay upright with no slop.Please let me know about your handles...

I purchased this product at a local Sears in August. I returned it in October because it quit working. The second version clogs every time I use it. I do have a black lab and three cats, but that is why I need a vacuum that works! I tried to return it at the end of January and Sears refused to return our money because it was past the 90 days (we have had four snowstorms and the holidays in between!) despite purchasing the $50 warranty. I intend to get my money's worth on the warranty by bringing it in every time it clogs again!
